Steeped in history, the family owned hotel has undertaken extensive restorations, without forsaking the tradition and antiquity that has made it the famous hotel it is today. Over half of the 69 individually decorated rooms and suites are in the original building and feature 16th Century beams, open fireplaces and eclectic antiques. There is also Orchard Cottage, set in the gardens or the newly refurbished Orchard Wing. The Great Hall is the main dining room which provides an impressive yet intimate setting for breakfast and dinner, as well as lunch at weekends. The room's centrepiece is a grand open fireplace. An imposing barrel-vaulted ceiling, 17th Century minstrels' gallery, heraldic friezes, suits of armour and oak panelled walls create a historic ambience in which to enjoy the cuisine of Martin Blunos - the receipient of 2 Michelin stars. Goblets provides a second, less formal bistro dining option.
