Maungatautari Lodge is a finely crafted, purpose built small luxury hotel that breaks the conventional mould. This intimate lodge is situated on a 16 hectare working farm and thoroughbred horse stud. The lodge is surrounded by rolling parkland, formal gardens, a swimming pool, a petanque piste and a chip and putt golf course. Upstairs in the lodge are four generously proportioned guest suites, each with a private balcony, while in the garden are a further three guest villas. Each suite or villa is individually decorated and has air conditioning, a super king-size or twin beds, dressing room, sitting area, cable television and a desk with internet access. All have ensuite bathrooms with a double spa and seperate shower. Maungatautari*s quiet and contemplative corners include a secluded library, conservatory and a private terrace that gives uninterrupted views of beautiful Lake Karapiro. Guests can explore the verdant surrounding countryside and rural townships. Come dinner time, the lodge*s renowned cuisine showcases the very best of New Zealand organic beef, lamb, fish and game in a menu that changes daily.

Directions
To Maungatautari Lodge via Karapiro Dam from the North 1. Take State Highway 1 to Cambridge. Follow State Highway One through Cambridge and from the bridge just out of Cambridge it is 6km to KARAPIRO VILLAGE. 2. Turn right off State Highway 1 to Karapiro Village, follow road to cross over the Karapiro Hydro Dam. After the dam, TURN LEFT, This is Maungatautari Road. The lodge is 3kms from here on your right hand side, just after the road vias to the right and goes up a small rise. There is a plastered entranceway, number 844 with Maungatautari Lodge signs on both sides. DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTH TO MAUNGATAUTARI LODGE Via Karapiro Hydro Dam 24 kms North of TIRAU turn LEFT at large green sign for KARAPIRO VILLAGE. Cross the Hydro Dam and turn LEFT, This is Maungatautari Road for only 3 kms. The Entranceway in this option is on the RIGHT hand side, just after the road veers to the right and goes up a small rise. We are number 844 on the road.

The remains of numerous fortified sites, Pa*s, are visible from the roads that pass the range.
