Situated in the north-west quarter of the historic centre, within walking distance of the main historical sites, the Malaspina has only recently been converted into a Hotel and is housed in a fine 19th century Palazzo. It is still owned by the noble Torrigiani Malaspina family, owners of the Torrigiani Garden in Florence and Malaspina Castle in Fosdinovo, famous for hosting Dante when he fled Florence
