Property Description

Originally/ the Hotel dates back to the late nineteenth century. There is not much data left on that time/ but it is known that the Gran Hotel de Francia opened its doors in 1888. After the Civil War/ and following the common trend in those days/ the hotel changed its name to Hotel Espana/ and so remained for nearly thirty years. In 1968/ the new Hotel Espana was inaugurated in the present location/ with no further changes until its closure in late 2007. After an intensive refurbishment of the existing building to update the hotel in terms of comfort and sustainability/ the hotel will reopen its doors 125 years after the first guest checked-in/ now under the brand “Blue Coruna”. That building/ placed also in Juana de Vega but on the opposite side to its present location on the corner of Canton Pequeno/ was designed by D. Faustino Dominguez Coumes-Gay/ one of the most important architects of the time in Galicia who/ to mention a piece of his work close to the hotel/ also built the Eusebio da Guarda Schools at Plaza de Pontevedra.
