Escape to the magic of the island. Stouts Island Lodge features rustic elegance and historic charm nestled in the heart of Wisconsins lake district. This converted private estate was once the summer home of a wealthy lumber baron and his family. The richly appointed, Adirondack style buildings reflect the timeless sophistication of the lumber age while catering to modern tastes. Stouts Island Lodge has housed generations of memories, from lavish weddings to quiet getaways. Romance abounds with fireplaces, private balconies, and sweeping lake views. Guests may find it tempting to simply relax in our beautiful guest rooms, but there are innumerable ways to enjoy the island. We offer fishing, campfires, tennis, hydro bikes, croquet, canoes, bocce ball, swimming, kayaks, bird watching, and trails equally suited to exercise or a romantic stroll. Weather not cooperating...the boathouse and main lodge accommodate a variety of indoor activities including billiards, board games, and a piano. Many guests opt to simply cozy up in front of the fire and lose themselves in a book from our library. Our 42 guest rooms cater to every taste and budget, ranging from affordable comfort to show-stopping rustic luxury. Stouts Island Lodge provides a stunning backdrop for events including private dining, corporate meetings, retreats, and celebrations of all kinds. Original owner Harry Stout spent more than 1.5 million USD - in 1915 dollars - to create his dream summer home. A century later, with painstaking care given to upkeep and restoration, this one-of-a-kind haven still provides space to unplug and unwind or celebrate and toast to the good life. Today, Stouts Island Lodge is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of Historic Hotels of America. Stouts Island Lodge is open seasonally from May through October. Stouts Island Lodge sits proudly in the center of Red Cedar Lake - an 1800-acre lake in northeastern Barron County, Wisconsin. There are two islands connected by a 100 ft. walking bridge - given to Frank Stout by Andrew Carneige. The two islands have a combined acreage of 18 acres.
