CHINA NATIONAL MUSEUM
On the east side of Tiananmen Square stands a grandiose structure: the forthcoming China National Museum. Until 2003 this iconic building housed both the massive China History Museum and the rather tired Museum of the Chinese.

FORBIDDEN CITY
Lying at the centre of Beijing the Forbidden City called Gu Gong in Chinese was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Now known as the Palace Museum it is to the north of Tiananmen Square.

LAMA TEMPLE
The Lama temple has five halls laid out on a north-south axis. In each successive hall the central Buddha is more imposing than the last. This is the final hall (Pavilion of Ten Thousand Happinesses) in which stands a 75 foot statue of the Buddh

SUMMER PALACE
The Summer Palace is the second largest imperial garden in China. Situated in the western outskirts of Haidian District. It has the largest royal park and was designated in 1960 by the State Council as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Site of China.

TEMPLE OF HEAVEN
Location: The Temple of Heaven is situated in the southern part of the city in Chongwen district. As famous as the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace it is a "must" for every visitor.

THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA
A visit to Beijing is incomplete without a side trip to the Great Wall, one of China's most important sights. Within a few hours' drive of the city limits you can visit the wall at three different points.
