In the Middle Ages the town was known for its many monasteries. In the 1700s Horsens was the home town of rich merchants who sailed on the seven seas to bring exciting goods back home to the town and the region. Today the city is famous for exciting concerts with internationally renowned artists and for its good commercial life in the broadest pedestrian street in Denmark. From the hotel there are only a few steps to the attractive shopping possibilities in the old streets of Horsens - but the location is still calm and peaceful. Both the Art Museum and Denmarks only industrial museum Danmarks Industrimuseum are not far away. There is only a 5 minutes walk to the fjord which is called - Denmarks most beautiful fjord. Hotel Danica is a relatively new hotel and it was totally renovated in 2011. All the rooms are furnished in modern style but it is still a cosy place to stay in. Naturally the rooms have both flat-screen TV and free wireless internet for your laptop. The restaurant is first-class and a chapter by itself. The cuisine of the restaurant is highly respected and famous for its unique gastronomy. The skilled chefs only choose the fresh ingredients of the season and are known for their creativity and inventiveness. Each day they offer classic lunch dishes and open sandwiches in three different sizes. The evening menu includes both good grill steaks and great gourmet experiences.
