Thanda Private Game Reserve is situated 23km north of Hluhluwe in northern Zululand, South Africa, and is set on a 14 000 hectare Big Five private game reserve. Thanda, meaning love in Zulu, unites romance and exclusivity with Zulu culture and wildlife. The nine luxury bush villas at Safari lodge have private heated infinity pools, viewing decks, private salas, lounges, fireplaces and full bathrooms. The public facilities at Safari lodge include a lounge, library, dining room, boma, dining deck, wine cellar, cigar bar, fully equipped business centre and viewing decks. Villa Izulu can accommodate 10 people, offering accommodation in five separate suites. Each suite is individually decorated and private, with own viewing deck. Public facilities include a boma, library, cellar, business area, heated pool and a magnificent deck overlooking a waterhole. Thanda Tented camp is built in colonial safari style, offering an authentic bush experience in 14 tents. The tents have viewing decks and en suite canvass bathrooms. Public facilities at the tented camp include a dining tent, a boma area, and a sala consisting of an open air lounge and a rim flow pool. Jabula Tent offers a sophisticated mix of romance, privacy and refined comfort in the heart of the African bush. Jabula Tent features a king sized bed in a spacious bedroom, a comfortable separate lounge area and an outdoor shower and plunge pool.

Richards Bay is the closest airport (1.5 hour drive), and the closest international airport is King Shaka, Durban (3 hour drive). Private charter flights can land at Mkuze Airfield, which is a 1. 8 kilometre tarred runway only 20 minutes drive from Thanda. Thanda is in the process of establishing its own 1. 8 kilometre tarred runway on the reserve, this should be completed by mid 2014. Thanda is situated 23 km north of Hluhluwe on the N2, towards Mkuze, approximately 265 km north of Durban. The reserve is easily accessible from the N2 with a gravel road, the D242 extending approximately 5 km to the west. Located in the heart of the Elephant Coast, Thanda offers guests the Big Seven safari experience, encasing the illustrious Big Five within its 14000 hectare borders. Its close proximity to the Indian Ocean ensures a balmy climate throughout the year.
