Directions

Monemvasia is a small picturesque village on the seaside with a great history. Its Castle is separated in two parts. The upper city which is uninhabited now days. The are remnants of several Byzantine and Byzantine year buildings. In the upper city you can visit Santa Sofia, eight - angle temple with dome. The settlement of the down city is inhabited even today, it is surrounded by a protective wall and has two gates and has two gates at the east and at the west and a small exit to the sea. You can visit many temples such as Elkomenos Christos, Virgin Mary Chrisafitissa etc. In and out of the Castle you can find many tavernas and cafe bars to taste any variety of the well known Greek traditional cuisine.
